Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

You must be legally able to agree to these terms. If you use LumeTrace on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

2. Open-source license

LumeTrace is free and open-source software. The source code is provided under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0. That license governs your rights to use, copy, modify, and distribute the software and source code. These terms govern the website, downloads, and project services; they do not reduce rights granted by the open-source license.

3. Your files and storage

You retain ownership of files and other content you use with LumeTrace. You are responsible for having the necessary rights to that content, choosing suitable storage, managing access permissions, and maintaining backups.

Version history is a convenience and does not replace an independent backup. You are responsible for checking that your files and backups are complete and recoverable.

4. Optional third-party AI services

If you connect an external AI provider, you authorize LumeTrace to send your questions and relevant excerpts or context to that provider when you use the feature. Your use of that provider is governed by its own terms and privacy policy. You are responsible for provider fees, credentials, permissions, output review, and compliance with its rules.

AI output may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable. Verify important information before relying on it.

5. Acceptable use

• Do not use the website or project services to violate law or another person’s rights.
• Do not interfere with, overload, probe, or disrupt the website or its infrastructure.
• Do not distribute malware, expose credentials, or attempt unauthorized access through project services.
• Do not misrepresent your identity or affiliation when interacting with project channels.

6. Third-party services and links

LumeTrace may link to or interoperate with services such as GitHub, Discord, local model software, and external AI providers. Those services are independent and governed by their own terms. The LumeTrace project is not responsible for their content, security, availability, or practices.

7. Updates and availability

The application and website may change, gain or lose features, or be unavailable. The project may issue updates for compatibility, reliability, or security. The project is not required to maintain any particular feature, integration, or release indefinitely.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LUMETRACE, THE WEBSITE, DOWNLOADS, AND PROJECT SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. THIS INCLUDES IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE LUMETRACE PROJECT AND ITS CONTRIBUTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA, FILES, PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF LUMETRACE.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limits. In those jurisdictions, these provisions apply only to the extent permitted by law.

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop using LumeTrace at any time. Access to project-operated online services may be restricted or terminated if you materially violate these terms or create security, legal, or operational risk. Rights under the open-source license remain governed by that license.

11. Changes to these terms

These terms may change as LumeTrace develops or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current version. Continued use of project services after updated terms take effect means you accept the updated terms.
